Frequently Asked Questions

We welcome you to register your child(ren) for our Portland Read Program. Several Saturday events will be held throughout the year in which you may bring your children to a day of reading and story activities. There will be children storybook readings, puppet shows, interactive story writing and more. We will also offer a free book table in which children may choose up to four books to take home at no cost. (If you have multiple children in your family, each one may still choose an individual four books.) Refreshments and children's snacks will be available without charge.

Please note this will not be a child care provided activity day. Parental or guardian attendance will be required and we welcome your participation with snacks, story telling, children's book boxed, or any other way you might like to help.

The Portland Read program is intended to help children of low-income families in the area have access to a variety of books. We will not require any proof of income eligibility and will operate on a honor system basis. We simply ask everyone to respect this so that all free storybooks will go to the children who need them most. Thank you.
